Dave Roever grew up in a loving, committed family in South Texas. The last thing on his mind was going to war. At the height of the Vietnam War, he received his draft notice. Having no desire to serve in the infantry, he joined the Navy and served as a river boat gunner in the elite Brown Water Black Beret in Vietnam.

Eight months into his tour of duty in Vietnam, Roever was burned beyond recognition when a phosphorous grenade he was poised to throw exploded in his hand. The ordeal left him hospitalized for fourteen months, where he underwent numerous major surgeries. His survival and life are miraculous.

Today, with his humorous style, Dave Roever is enthusiastically received both nationally and internationally as a public speaker. He is a gifted communicator and speaks in a variety of settings including public schools; military installations; business, men’s and youth conventions; and churches. Dave is a frequent guest on national television talk shows. He established compassionate, ongoing mission work in Vietnam and is involved in other nations.

In every setting, Mr. Roever’s message is one of hope. Using his life as an example, he addresses issues relevant to his audience and presents concrete solutions to life’s problems. Often drawing upon his war experiences of loneliness, peer pressure, disfigurement and pain, as well as life’s triumphs, Dave weaves a message of courage, commitment and survival that touches and transforms those who hear him. The foundation of his hope is his faith, supported by the wholesome relationships with his parents, wife, children and grandchildren.

Thirty-four years after his injuries, the Department of the Navy corrected its oversight by awarding Dave his Purple Heart, along with several other service medals. Because of his war-time experience of service, injury and recovery, he is uniquely qualified to speak to the needs of military personnel. He is called upon regularly to address troops on domestic military bases as well as those deployed in Iraq and other locations around the globe.

Inclement Weather Closing Information for Christian Life Academy of Early Learning

“What to do when it snows or we experience other weather emergencies?”

Morning Closure:

If we have bad weather and have to close school for the day, the decision will be made by 5:30 a.m. so that the TV stations can be notified. We will have closure information listed on ABC/NBC & CBS. We will also leave a message on the school answering service so that you can call the school to verify. As a general rule, when Bensalem School’s are closed, Christian Life Academy is closed. However, sometimes we may differ according to information received from our maintenance crew here at Christian Life Academy.

Early Dismissal:

If we have bad weather move into our area where an early dismissal would be called, the school will, through our school staff inform the parents of our early dismissal. If your child is transported by school bus we will notify you if you will need to pick up OR transportation will still be provided by the bus.

Delayed Opening of School:

Weather conditions may be such that delaying the opening of school by one or two hours may be necessary. Notification of a delayed opening will be communicated in the same manner as a school closing. When we call a one or two hour delay, this means that the time of opening is one or two hours after 7:00 a.m. It does not affect the Preschool or Kindergarten start time, it will begin at 9:00 a.m. It only delays the before care hours between (7 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.).

Why is everything in life so hard? Why does doing the right thing often feel like a battle? In the WAR series starting January 15th, Pastor Del will share insights from God’s Word about the unseen spiritual forces working against us; the invisible war between good and evil. If ever you needed it, this is a time you need to understand the spiritual forces against you and the spiritual resources you have to fight those forces. You don’t have to be afraid of Satan, but you do need to know what to do in each circumstance!

It’s not too soon to set your sights on the Holiday season here at Christian Life Center!

This year’s holiday celebrations will help you experience more deeply the Christmas story and the Christmas season. It is our prayer that in the midst of the celebration, you can truly encounter the one whom we celebrate.

Because of Christmas, no longer will religion be about man trying to reach up to God. From now on it is about God reaching down to us in the person of his Son, Jesus Christ.
Our Family Christmas Eve service will be 5-6PM Saturday, December 24th. And on Sunday December 25th from 10-11AM we will celebrate the one who came to give us life…the greatest gift of all: Jesus!

Sunday November 27th CLC welcomes back Reggie Dabbs!

Born to an unwed teenager who at one time considered abortion as a viable option for solving her “problem,” Reggie Dabbs considers himself fortunate to be alive. With no place to go, the pregnant teenager ended up living in a chicken coop in Tennessee. It was there she remembered a former school teacher, Mrs. Dabbs, who had said to her students, “If you ever need anything, call me,” and gave the students her home phone number. The girl called.

Mrs. Dabbs and her husband, whose six children were adults by this time, took the girl into their home and cared for her until after the baby was born. They continued to care for little Reggie as foster parents until he was in the fourth grade, and then they officially adopted him and gave him the Dabbs name.

As the Dabbs’ reared Reggie, they instilled in him strong moral values, for which he is genuinely grateful. They also ingrained in him the fact that in every situation he faced, he had a choice. What he did with those choices was entirely up to him.

In the sixth, Reggie began playing the saxophone and hated it. At the insistence of his parents he continued to practice and to play. Not until his freshman year in college did he actually enjoy the instrument, and today, he plays with fervor and expertise.

After graduating from college, Reggie began his public speaking. During one speaking engagement, his host asked if he would be interested in addressing a high school assembly. From that small beginning in 1987, Reggie has become a popular public school speaker.

When addressing a school assembly, Reggie talks to the kids in a humorous style about choices each of them has when faced with drugs, alcohol, suicide, etc. Reggie gets in kids faces and tells them that he never smoked a cigarette, never did drugs, never drank alcohol, because he chose not to. He assures them that they can make the same kinds of choices.

Reggie talks to kids about family and how thankful they should be that they have families. He talks to them about dating relationships and emphasizes that virginity is the most honorable choice. Most of all, Reggie drives home the fact that “You can never change your past, but you can change your future!”

From being a “Problem” to an unwed teenager, Reggie is fast becoming one of the most in-demand speakers who helps teenagers meet their problems head-on and overcome them.

Reggie makes his home in Ft. Myers, Florida with his wife Michele and their son Dominic.

Do you really trust God? Do you trust Him in everything? Or do you trust in Him for some things? Do you trust Him in big things and not in small things? Or do you trust Him in small things but with big things, you want to take control?

These are some tough questions we’ll be dealing with starting November 6th with a new series at CLC called “iTrust.”

And if you think those questions are tough, how about this one: Can God trust me?

Does He trust me? Have I proven to be a trustworthy person? Can He give me what He wants to, knowing that I am trustworthy?

We’ll wrap up the series by taking “The Trust Test” where we’ll go through a process of examining ourselves and really asking, “Am I truly trusting Him?”

Pick up CLC REAL Kids and EDGE cards from the Welcome Center in the main foyer and give them to the people that stop by. Also see the linked documents below for some more ideas on how you can Light the Night!

If you don’t have a lot of traffic at your house on Halloween find someone in your family or Small Group that does, and help them make a difference in their neighborhood!

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
