Revelation

Revelation is a book of endings and new beginnings.  It is the book that starts with destruction but it ends with a new creation.

The book of Revelation is not a book about the future.  It’s a book about your future.  It’s not just some scientific study about what might happen next.  It’s a very personal book.  Every single one of us is mentioned in this book.  Not by name.  But we’re all mentioned.  Because at the end of time we’re either going to be standing with believers in that great multitude at the sea of glass that worships Jesus forever, or we’re going to be standing with unbelievers at that Great White Throne of Judgment to be banished from God’s presence forever.  Everybody in all of human history is mentioned in this book of Revelation.  It’s a very personal book about our lives and about what God is going to do in our lives.

God wrote Revelation to us to help us understand the future, not to keep us from understanding the future.  Yet all of us, when we read the book of Revelation especially for the first time, don’t you get a little dizzy?  You open up and start to read it and it just does some things to you and you wonder what is this talking about?  That’s why it’s a good time to study it and see what God has to say to us.  He wrote it to help us understand.  As we study it together I believe God will increase your understanding in a great way.
